abundance farm
(northampton, ma)

Abundance Farm’s mission is to practice and promote food justice and local food security, build strong community between our three collaborating organizations (CBI, LGA and the Northampton Survival Center) and between the Northampton Jewish community and the broader local community, and to provide Outdoor Education Experiences which inspire a love of the natural world, promote a sense of personal responsibility to care for Creation and a love of learning.

Coastal Roots Farm is a nonprofit community farm and education center. We cultivate healthy, connected communities by integrating sustainable agriculture, food justice, and ancient Jewish wisdom. Since our inception in 2014, Coastal Roots Farm has provided dignified access to fresh food for those who need it most. Inspired by Jewish agricultural practices, we grow organic crops and share the harvest with our community through pay-what-you-can farm stands, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, and direct donations to local hunger relief organizations. Through workshops, field trips, agricultural festivals, and community events, we offer hands-on education and invite our neighbors to connect to the land and each other. Coastal Roots Farm is located on approximately 15 acres of land. Our Farm consists of vegetable gardens, greenhouses, a food forest, animal pastures, compost systems, and a vineyard. Coastal Roots Farm was incubated by the Leichtag Foundation

 

Growtorah
(new jersey, New York, Philly)

GrowTorah develops educational Torah garden programs for Jewish schools and communal organizations. We aim to cultivate a more compassionate and sustainable future driven by Torah values. Through our curated educational garden experiences, participants explore relevant Torah values, and learn the fundamentals of gardening and small-scale land-stewardship. The Torah lessons interwoven into the educational garden experiences inspire participants to navigate the complex relationships between humans, their fellow creatures, and the earth, and encourages participants to connect with these values in powerful and personally meaningful ways.

Through hands-on learning based in ecological design, personal interaction with nature, and an exploration of Jewish thought, we inspire, build, and create a more sustainable future.

 

urban adamah
(Berkeley, ca)

Urban Adamah is an educational farm and community center in Berkeley, California, that integrates the practices of Jewish tradition, sustainable agriculture, mindfulness and social action to build loving, just and sustainable communities. We provide educational programs and community celebrations for more than 10,000 visitors annually. Our signature programs include a residential leadership fellowship program for young adults and a farm-based summer camp for youth ages 3-12. Our organic farm produces a diverse yield of fruits, vegetables, and eggs, all of which we donate to those in the community in need through our weekly Free Farm Stand. Our work is inspired by the core Jewish values of love (ahava), compassion (hesed) and justice (tzedek). These values inform all of our activities, which are designed to connect people to Judaism’s ancient wisdom and deep commitment to provide for others, nourish the soul and care for the earth.

adamah & Hazon
(falls village, CT)

Adamah cultivates the soil and the soul to produce food, to build and transform identities and to gather a community of people changing the world. We grow organic vegetables, fruit, herbs, goats, flowers, eggs, and we grow people through experiences with ecology, food production, social justice, spiritual practice, a vibrant evolving Judaism, and intentional community. Adamah is a program of Hazon.

 

eden village camp
(Putnam valley, NY & healdsburg, ca)

Eden Village is a farm-based summer camp founded in 2009 and serving more than 450 campers and 120 staff each summer. Rooted in the Jewish vision of creating a more environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually connected world, Eden Village Camp is dedicated to providing campers with an incredible summer experience while empowering them to promote a vibrant future for themselves their communities and our planet. In 2018, Eden Village opened its second camp, Eden Village West, in Healdsburg, CA.

 

milk & honey farm at the J
(Boulder, co)

Milk and Honey Farm at J (MHF) is an educational and sustainable farm that brings together the greater community via experiential programs and activities designed to ignite wonder and discovery, grounded in Jewish heritage, tradition, and values. We use the farm as a basis for teaching about growing food, eating healthy, and living sustainably. Two acres of the Boulder JCC property is dedicated to agricultural activities. During this past growing season, we started our Donation Garden program, growing food for Community Food Share and local food pantries. To date, we have donated almost 2,000 pounds of fresh, organically grown produce. In 2017 alone, MHF served over 1,000 participants through volunteer and programmatic opportunities.

Nestled on 220 acres in a beautiful, wooded canyon in the mountains of Malibu, Ca., Shalom Institute is a premier center for Jewish experiential education providing transformative experiences year-round to thousands who attend its overnight and day camps, religious school and day school retreats, family camps, teen initiatives, adult programs, holiday celebrations, and more. Shalom Institute is the home of Camp JCA Shalom, a JCC overnight and day camp, the Shemesh Organic Farm, and Shemesh Enterprises, a farm-based social enterprise for young adults with diverse abilities.

beantown jewish gardens
(Boston, ma)

Ganei Beantown (Beantown Jewish Gardens) is building community through experiential food and agriculture education rooted in Jewish text, tradition and culture. Facilitating a connection between Judaism, food, and agriculture breathes new life into Jewish tradition, community, identity, and activism, and engages the Jewish community in the question of how to feed ourselve and the world in a just and sustainable manner. Just as beans add nitrogen to nourish and replenish our soil, so too this project will add vital nutrients to our Beantown Jewish community.

Inspired by Jewish values, we work to repair the world, to nurture the Earth, and to nourish our neighbors. We involve the community in growing and giving organic, local vegetables to those struggling with hunger and malnutrition.

Pearlstone is fertile ground for living Judaism, a living laboratory for 21st century American Jewish life. Located just outside of Baltimore, MD and embracing the entire Jewish community and beyond, Pearlstone ignites Jewish passion by forging connections between the body, mind, heart, and soul. Targeting Jewish youth and families, young adults, and leaders, Pearlstone cultivates vibrant and sustainable Jewish life by engaging engaging more than 20,000 annual participants in immersive retreats, Jewish experiential education, hands-on organic farming, and community sustainability initiatives.

Shoresh inspires and empowers our community to take care of the earth by connecting people, land, and Jewish tradition. Through nature-based Jewish education, healthy food production, environmental action, and sustainable Jewish products, we offer community members meaningful opportunities to be responsible stewards of the world around us. Serving the communities of Southern Ontario, Shoresh operates out of the Kavanah Garden in Vaughan, Bela Farm in Hillsburg, and through schools, synagogues, camps, and community organizations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Grounded in Canadian soil, Shoresh gets community members back to their Jewish roots!
